My Background

My whole life I wanted to be a professional hockey player. I grew up in the St. James area of Winnipeg, Manitoba and honestly can’t remember a life where hockey wasn’t my primary focus. From an early age I fell in love with the game, and that has never changed throughout my junior, collegiate, and finally my short-lived professional career. (I’ll save you the trouble of searching for my hockeydb page – https://www.hockeydb.com/adamhenry).

When I began playing at the collegiate level with the University of Manitoba, I realized that my dreams of making a living playing this game were nearing an end. It was during this time that I needed to answer a question no hockey player dreams of answering – what am I going to do after hockey?

I’ve always been interested in the freedom of owning a business and math was always a strong subject for me. I also wanted to find a competitive work environment that would keep me energized in my life after hockey. This led me to pursue a double-major in Accounting & Finance through the Asper School of Business.

How It All Started

When my professional hockey career ended abruptly due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it became time to channel my energy into my second career, but I really didn’t want to live a life without hockey. I’ve been told many times that if you do something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. So, I took that to heart and channeled all my energy towards finding a career where I can provide value to people, but also stay involved with the game of hockey and staying in contact with the many connections I made while playing the game.

That is why I began my financial advising practice concentrating on working with pro hockey players. By focusing all of my time and energy on becoming a specialist working with hockey players, I can stay involved in the game and take on the responsibility of guiding former teammates, friends, and young players toward financial freedom.

Therefore, it is my responsibility to both educate and guide players towards their financial goals. I develop personal relationships with the players and provide a 24/7 life management practice. This includes anything a player needs, from providing advice on buying a car to building an investment portfolio (and even my two-cents on how to play the game, if they want to hear it).
