I started my career in public accounting, where I spent several years helping individuals and business owners navigate increasingly complex tax situations. That experience gave me a strong technical foundation and an appreciation for the role thoughtful planning can play in helping people keep more of what they’ve earned.
After spending several years working in Calgary, I eventually found my way back home to Winnipeg and joined the team at Trans Canada Wealth Management. One of the things I enjoy most about retirement planning is that it allows me to be proactive instead of reactive. In public accounting, much of the work focuses on reporting what has already happened. Today, I have the opportunity to help clients make tax decisions years in advance, giving them more options and greater confidence in the future.
Outside the Office
Music
I'm currently learning to play the piano, and it's become one of my favourite ways to unwind. I also enjoy live music and rarely pass up the chance to see artists like The Sheepdogs, Noah Kahan, or Caamp whenever they're on tour.
The Night Sky
Whether its looking up at the stars or listening to Brian Cox, I enjoy the unanswered questions the universe presents. Fun fact, while in Calgary I joined the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
Exploring
Whether it's hiking a new trail, visiting a national park, I enjoy exploring and seeing the great outdoors. Current favourite is Grand Tetons National Park in Wyoming.
